BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The German government has voiced concern over Israeli plans to expand its control over parts of the Gaza Strip, according to a spokesperson for Germany's Foreign Ministry.
TurkicWorld reports.that the spokesperson said Berlin opposes any permanent division of Palestinian territory and remains concerned about developments that could affect prospects for a future political settlement.
The comments came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday that he had instructed the military to take control of 70 percent of the Gaza Strip "as a start", despite the ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025.
Netanyahu also said Israeli forces currently control approximately 60 percent of the Palestinian territory, which has been heavily damaged during the conflict.
Germany remains one of Israel's closest allies. However, in 2025, Berlin suspended military exports that could be used in Gaza after Israel's security cabinet approved a plan to take control of Gaza City.
The latest remarks reflect growing international attention on the future status of Gaza and concerns about the long-term implications of military operations in the territory.
