Uzbekistan to boost volume of projects in Fergana's industry sector

Uzbekistan will up the ante on projects that give Fergana's industry sector a boost, TurkicWorld reports.

According to the Uzbek president's office, Uzbekistan will implement projects worth $2 billion in the energy, oil and gas, and chemical industries. The investments worth $700 million will be implemented in the production of 230 types of new construction materials.

The country will implement projects worth $420 million in the electrical industry and $500 million in the automotive industry. In particular, it is planned to build an enterprise in Kuvasay to produce charging stations for electric cars, as well as to establish production of agricultural machinery.

In addition, Uzbekistan plans to increase yarn processing to 60 percent through the implementation of a $300 million project in the textile sector.

Meanwhile, according to preliminary data, Uzbekistan's enterprises manufactured industrial products worth 292 trillion soums ($23 billion) from January through May 2024. This figure is 26.3 percent higher year-on-year (231.2 trillion soums, or $18.2 billion in January–May 2023).

The largest specific weight falls on the enterprises of the manufacturing industry, the output of which amounted to 239.7 trillion soums ($18.9 billion). The mining and quarrying industry ranks second with a production volume worth 25.9 trillion soums ($2 billion) during this period. Uzbekistan’s electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply production reached 24.7 trillion soums ($1.9 billion), while water supply, sewerage, waste collection, and utilization totaled 1.7 trillion soums ($134.4 million).
