US envoy visits Central Asia for Middle Corridor investment talks

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 13. Acting Special Coordinator for the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) Helaina Matza will travel to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on July 14-19, TurkicWorld reports.

According to the US Department of State, the purpose of the visit is to advance the ongoing US-led efforts to facilitate strategic infrastructure investments in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, or the so-called Middle Corridor.

During the visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, she will meet with government officials and private sector partners to discuss potential infrastructure projects and financing opportunities.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.

The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.

The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
