Kyrgyzstan hosts event on upcoming Turkmen Halk Maslahaty and UN resolution

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. Turkmenistan’s upcoming Halk Maslahaty meeting and UN resolution discussed at embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

According to the Turkmen MFA, on August 20, 2026, a round table dedicated to the significance of the upcoming regular meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the UN General Assembly resolution "International Year of International Law, 2028", adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan, was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Meanwhile, the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) serves as the supreme representative body of popular power in Turkmenistan, chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Comprising top government officials, parliamentarians, regional administrators, and community elders, this constitutional council holds the authority to approve constitutional revisions, define state policy priorities, and determine strategic directions for national development.

The event noted that the Halk Maslahaty meeting, scheduled for September 23, 2026, is an important socio-political event. The meeting will summarize the work carried out and the successes achieved, as well as determine priority directions for the country’s further socio-economic development.

Special attention was paid to the international significance of the UN General Assembly resolution "International Year of International Law, 2028", adopted on July 24, 2026, at the initiative of Turkmenistan. "This initiative is aimed at further strengthening the role of international law, increasing respect for the principles and norms of the UN Charter, as well as promoting international peace and security," the participants of the round table emphasized.

In conclusion, it was noted that the holding of the Halk Maslahaty meeting and the further implementation of Turkmenistan’s international initiatives will contribute to strengthening the country’s authority on the international stage as a state consistently pursuing a peace-loving foreign policy based on the status of permanent neutrality.
