On May 21, 2026, the Turkmen national equestrian games group “Galkynysh” took part in the opening ceremony of the 8th International Ethnosport Culture Festival held in the city of Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye. This significant international forum was organized by the World Ethnosport Confederation.
Within the framework of the festival, national cultural groups from various countries of the world presented their customs, traditional sports, elements of equestrian games, and ethnic heritage.
At this prestigious international event, the delegation of Turkmenistan, represented by the “Galkynysh” group, delivered a vibrant performance program, demonstrating outstanding equestrian stunt skills, national costumes, and musical and choreographic compositions, which attracted great interest and admiration from spectators and foreign guests of the festival.
Particular attention from participants and the audience was drawn to the Akhal-Teke horses specially brought from Turkmenistan. These famous horses, known for their beauty, endurance, and unique movements, became one of the symbols of the festival and a remarkable highlight of the program.
The “Galkynysh” group, established at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, makes a significant contribution to promoting the national equestrian art and cultural heritage of Turkmenistan on the international stage.
This cultural event became an important platform for showcasing the rich traditions of the Turkmen people and strengthening friendly ties between countries. The festival will continue its work until May 25.
