BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 25. Qatar has called for the situation in the Strait of Hormuz to return to the conditions that prevailed before the current crisis, stressing the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the strategic waterway.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is necessary, highlighting the waterway’s importance to regional and international maritime traffic.
Doha’s statement comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the strait and growing concerns about the security of commercial shipping and energy transportation routes.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints, linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and serving as a major route for global oil and gas shipments.
Qatar, one of the world’s major exporters of liquefied natural gas, relies on maritime routes through the strait to transport energy supplies to international markets.
The Qatari position also reflects Doha’s broader calls for de-escalation and diplomatic efforts to resolve regional tensions.
Qatar has emphasised that stability in the Strait of Hormuz and uninterrupted freedom of navigation are important for both regional security and the global economy.
