President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova attended the opening ceremony of the Anau city of Turkmenistan due to the its announcement by TURKSOY as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic world for 2024, TurkicWorld reports.

The opening ceremony was held as part of a series of cultural and artistic events organized in the Ahal region of Turkmenistan.

The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Myakhridzhemal Mammadova, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldy Shamuradov, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye Serdar Cam, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Alikulov, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Tagaev, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Murojon Majidov, Hungarian deputy Péter Hoppál, Chairman of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Serkan Kayalar and many other guests from the Turkic world.

At the opening of the event, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Myakhridzhemal Mammadova read a letter from the President of Turkmenistan Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, addressed to the participants of the event.

Speaking at the event, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev stressed that the city of Anau and these lands are the sacred Homeland of the Turkmen people, the center of the great history and unique cultural heritage of Turkmenistan. Sultan Raev noted that this year was declared the Cultural Capital of the Turkic world by TURKSOY in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the classic of national Turkmen literature, the great poet Makhtumkuli Faragi.

Cultural figures of the Turkic world performed in the artistic part. More than 650 artists from different regions of the Turkic geography of 9 countries presented colorful dances and music of the Turkic peoples.
