Hungary Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation

The Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation hosted an event dedicated to the famous Hungarian Turkologist István Mándoki

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24 . On October 23, 2024, with the joint organization of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Embassy of Hungary in the Republic of Azerbaijan, an event dedicated to István Mándoki, one of the most influential Turkologists in Hungary, whose 80th anniversary is celebrated this year, was held at the headquarters of the Foundation, TurkicWorld reports

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors and diplomats of the Turkic states in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of scientific circles and intellectuals.

Opening the event, the president of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova spoke about the achievements of the famous scientist Mándoki in the field of linguistics and ethnography of Hungary, which is an observer country of the organization, and underlined that the scientist's life was mainly devoted to the study of culture, language and history of the Turkic peoples.

Aktoty Raimkulova noted that thanks to the Mándoki's contribution to the development of Turkology, he created a bridge and strengthened the Hungarian-Turkic friendship with his scientific works.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan Tamás József Torma, emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Turkic states for his country. The Ambassador stated that Hungary joined the Organization of Turkic States as an observer country in 2018. He noted that Hungarian Turkologists are conducting significant research on the Turkic world. Tamás József Torma thanked the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation for the high level of organization of the event and fruitful cooperation.

The well-known Hungarian Turkologist, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences David Somfai Kara and researcher of the House of Hungarian Heritage Agócs Gergely, who took part in the event, made presentations on the life and creativity of Mándoki, as well as Kipchak-Turkic-Hungarian relations.

At the event, the Ambassadors of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov and Maksat Mamytkanov, a prominent Azerbaijani statesman who contributed to Hungarian-Azerbaijani relations Hasan Hasanov, Director of the Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Nadir Mammadli, made presentations on the importance of Hungary in the Turkic Commonwealth, as well as on successfully developing relations between the Turkic states.

The event, which continued with musical numbers, ended with interesting conversations at the tea table.
