Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation President Speaks at Opening of ICESCO Nomination Seminar in Baku

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29. On July 28, 2025, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, delivered a speech at the opening of the first seminar dedicated to the preparation of nomination dossiers for the inclusion of cultural heritage sites in the lists of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). The event took place at ICESCO’s regional office in Baku, TurkicWorld reports.

The Foundation President emphasized the particular importance of the event in terms of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of both the Islamic and Turkic worlds. She also expressed confidence that the seminar would serve as a valuable platform for productive discussions and exchange of experiences.

In her address, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova noted the close cooperation between the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and ICESCO, highlighting joint projects carried out in this direction, including participation in the international cultural forum “Rukh Sanat”, which will be held on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan. The Foundation President spoke about a fruitful meeting with ICESCO Director-General Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik and the agreements reached toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Foundation and ICESCO in the framework of proclaiming Samarkand as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World.

The opening ceremony also featured speeches by the Director of ICESCO's Baku Regional Office, Mr. Abdulhakim Al-Sanan, Head of the Sector of Partnerships and International Cooperation at ICESCO, Mr. Anar Karimov, Deputy Director Mrs. Maryam Gafarzadeh, and Deputy Chairman of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, Mr. Rufat Mahmud. They all emphasized the significance of the seminar and wished the participants success.

As part of the seminar, training sessions were launched, featuring participants and experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. These sessions cover both theoretical and practical aspects related to the preparation of documentation for ICESCO’s nomination lists.

It is also worth noting that a delegation from the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation is actively participating in the seminar.
