BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 7. The opening of the exhibition "Breath of Time in Folk Art," dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the outstanding Azerbaijani scientist, carpet artist, and People's Artist Latif Kerimov, took place at the National Central Museum of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition is organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, and the National Central Museum of Kazakhstan.
The exposition features examples of 19th–20th century Azerbaijani carpet weaving and folk art—including Guba, Baku, Shirvan, Karabakh, Gazakh, and Ganja carpets, as well as flat-weave carpets, decorative and applied art items, artistic embroidery, jewelry, metalwork, and traditional women's costumes.
A special section is dedicated to the creative heritage of Latif Kerimov. It showcases sketches created by the master, alongside the carpets "Second Spring" and "Khatai."
As part of the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and the National Central Museum of Kazakhstan, aimed at developing museum interaction, exchanging experience, and implementing joint projects in the study and promotion of cultural heritage.
A round table dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Latif Kerimov and the historical and cultural ties between Kazakh and Azerbaijani decorative and applied arts was also held.
The exhibition "Breath of Time in Folk Art" will run until October 4, 2026.
