Kyrgyzstan sees decrease in unemployment

There is a decrease in the unemployment rate of the republic's population. This is evidenced by the results of an integrated sample survey of household budgets and the labor force, conducted by the National Statistical Committee in 2023.

According to the survey, the labor force aged 15 and older in 2023 amounted to more than 2.7 million people, of which more than 2.6 million were employed and 112 thousand were unemployed.

At the same time, the number of employed people aged 15 and older increased by 3 percent compared to 2022, while the number of unemployed people decreased by 15 percent. The number of employed men (1.6 million) in the total number of people employed in the economy exceeded the number of employed women (1.0 million).

In 2023, the employment rate of the population as a whole was 56 percent, which is 0.8 percentage points lower than in 2022. The employment rate is higher among men (71 percent) than among women (42 percent). The unemployment rate was 4.1 percent, which is 0.8 percentage points lower than in 2022.
