IEA to hold International Summit on Energy Security in 2025

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2. The International Energy Agency (IEA) will convene an International Summit on the Future of Energy Security in the second quarter of 2025, TurkicWorld reports via the IEA. .

Hosted by the UK government in London, this summit aims to assess the current and future risks to the global energy system and identify solutions and opportunities to address them.

The summit will explore the geopolitical, technological, and economic factors impacting energy security at both national and international levels. It will provide a platform for global decision-makers and key stakeholders to review the trends reshaping global energy security.

Key topics will include shifts in energy demand, supply, and trade; the adoption of clean and efficient energy solutions; the availability of essential minerals and metals for clean energy technologies, such as wind turbines, solar panels, electric vehicles, and battery storage; and investment strategies during the transition away from fossil fuels.

This summit is set to be a pivotal event for addressing the evolving landscape of energy security and fostering collaboration among global leaders.

IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol pointed out that the global energy crisis delivered a sobering reminder to countries around the world on the importance of energy security and its implications for economies.

"From its founding 50 years ago, the IEA has been a leader in safeguarding energy security and anticipating emerging risks. As the nature of energy security evolves amid looming threats, the IEA will continue to do all it can to ensure uninterrupted access to energy at affordable prices while honouring global climate commitments," he added.
