BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. Climate change challenges hinder achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs), Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, President of COP29 Mukhtar Babayev said at an international conference on "Climate Change and Just Transition: The Role and Actions of Trade Unions" in Baku today, TurkicWorld reports.
"We must take a coordinated global action. Countries must know that this is how we can support Sustainable Development. We must find solutions to ensure that Sustainable Development does not leave anyone behind," he added.
Baku is hosting an international conference on "Climate Change and Just Transition: The Role and Actions of Trade Unions" organized jointly by the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), International Labor Organization (ILO-ACTRAV), International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and Pan-European Regional Council (PERC).
The event is attended by representatives of the Government of Azerbaijan, management and staff of SMC and member organizations, officials from ILO-ACTRAV, ICFTU, and PERC, as well as leaders and representatives of trade unions from various countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa, experts on climate policy in Azerbaijan, environmental activists, entrepreneurs, representatives of the private sector and non-profit organizations.
