Russian Shipbuilding Corporation and Azerbaijan's Baku Shipyard to build oil tankers

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 20. Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) and Baku Shipyard are starting the construction of tankers for the transportation of oil products of the "river-sea" class, TurkicWorld reports.

The building and deployment of new tankers, particularly along the Azov-Black Sea and Caspian routes, will enable a considerable expansion of energy resource supplies to global markets, as pointed out by Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier in the day during negotiations in Baku.

To note, the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) was established following the decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 2007, and 100 percent of its shares are in federal ownership. Since August 2023, OSK has been under the trust management of VTB Bank.

Although the Russian media previously claimed that the OSK plants are at full capacity for the foreseeable future, the Russian Federation now appears to be in hot water and desperately needs tankers for the transportation of oil products.

Baku Shipyard staged its inauguration on September 20, 2013, and it mostly works on building a range of vessels, from offshore support vessels, general cargo vessels, tug boats, crane vessels, specialist vessels, and passenger vessels to tankers.
