BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14 Oil prices continued to rise, gaining more than 3 percent following new attacks on Saudi Arabia by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, as growing regional tensions raise concerns about disruptions to energy supplies.
Brent crude futures rose by $3.43, or 3.3 percent, to $108.04 per barrel as of 9:30 GMT. West Texas Intermediate futures also climbed, gaining $3.49, or 3.5 percent, to reach $103.54 per barrel.
The latest increase comes after oil prices surged by 9 percent last week as attacks and heightened tensions shook the region. Brent crude moved above $100 a barrel for the first time since July, while US diesel prices climbed above $6 per gallon for the first time on record.
The continued rise in oil prices highlights growing concerns that escalating instability in the Middle East could affect global energy markets and increase fuel costs.
