BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 27. Saudi Arabia has condemned the latest drone attacks targeting the kingdom, declaring that it reserves the "right to respond" to what it described as the source of the aggression and to deter those responsible.
In a statement, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounced the attacks, reaffirming the kingdom's commitment to protecting its national security and territorial integrity.
The statement follows renewed military escalation after Saudi forces carried out strikes on the Houthi-controlled Yemeni port city of Hodeidah on Friday amid heightened regional tensions linked to the broader confrontation involving the United States and Iran.
Hodeidah serves as the principal maritime gateway for areas of northern Yemen controlled by the Houthis, handling most commercial goods and humanitarian aid entering those territories.
Major-General Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, blamed the Houthis for the latest escalation, accusing the group of carrying out what he described as "cowardly and reckless" attacks against shipping in the Red Sea.
Saudi authorities reiterated that they would take all necessary measures to safeguard the kingdom's security while holding those responsible for the attacks accountable.
The latest developments underscore continuing instability in the Red Sea region, where attacks on commercial shipping have raised concerns over maritime security and regional trade.
