BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7, The United Kingdom and the Netherlands have signed a 2.4 billion-pound ($3.2 billion) maritime defence partnership aimed at strengthening the capabilities of their amphibious forces.
According to the British government, the agreement предусматриes the procurement of new amphibious transport ships that will be operated by British and Dutch forces.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who is attending the NATO summit in Türkiye, said the partnership combines the United Kingdom's industrial expertise with the Netherlands' ship design and maritime experience.
“Combining the UK's industrial expertise with the Netherlands' design and sea-faring experience to deliver first-rate platforms for our elite amphibious forces, this partnership will strengthen NATO,” Starmer said.
The agreement is expected to enhance defence cooperation between the two allies and contribute to NATO's collective military capabilities.
