Danish PM says Greenland is not for sale

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has said she expects Denmark's allies to respect the country's sovereignty and recognize that Greenland is not for sale.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Ankara, Frederiksen stressed that Denmark's territorial integrity must be respected by its partners.

Her remarks came just hours after US President Donald Trump reiterated his ambition to take control of Greenland, the semi-autonomous Arctic island that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Frederiksen reaffirmed Copenhagen's long-standing position that Greenland's future cannot be determined by outside powers.
