US to assess Venezuela quake damage and help restore communications

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said Washington will evaluate the situation in Venezuela over the next 48 hours to determine immediate and longer-term humanitarian needs following the devastating earthquakes.

TurkicWorld reports that speaking to reporters in Bahrain, Rubio said the United States expects to gain a clearer picture of the scale of destruction as teams assess damage on the ground alongside Venezuelan authorities.

He added that the next phase of the response will focus on identifying urgent and longer-term recovery priorities, including housing damage and infrastructure collapse.

Rubio also said the US is considering support to help restore internet and telecommunications services, which have been heavily disrupted in affected areas, complicating rescue and coordination efforts.
