BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. The European Union has activated its Copernicus Earth observation programme to assist Venezuela in assessing damage and supporting recovery efforts following the recent earthquakes.
TurkicWorld reports that EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib announced that the satellite-based monitoring system has been mobilised and that the EU is ready to scale up assistance if needed.
Copernicus provides high-resolution satellite imagery used for mapping disaster zones, assessing infrastructure damage, and coordinating emergency response operations.
The EU also confirmed that its partners are already delivering initial on-the-ground humanitarian assistance in affected areas, with further support expected as the situation develops.
