BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has travelled to Iran to meet senior Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Araghchi was originally expected in Switzerland for the US-Iran talks, but the Iranian delegation did not arrive, prompting Pakistani involvement.
TurkicWorld reports that Naqvi has a history of acting as a mediator when negotiations stall. Observers note that each time he visits Tehran, he brings approvals and facilitates progress toward a breakthrough. While it remains uncertain whether a resolution will be achieved this time, Naqvi’s presence is considered highly significant.
He is fully authorized by the Pakistani government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and maintains close ties with Field Marshal Asim Munir. Analysts say his intervention underscores two points: that the negotiations are not proceeding as planned, and that Pakistan’s active role is required to move the process forward.
