BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. Israeli officials are reporting growing tensions with the United States over the details of the emerging Iran-US agreement, with concerns focusing on its potential implications for Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
TurkicWorld reports that according to a senior Israeli official cited in local media, there is now what he described as a “crisis of trust” between Jerusalem and Washington. The US is reportedly withholding detailed briefings on the agreement due to fears that sensitive information could be leaked and used in a public campaign against the deal.
Israeli Channel 13 reported that the Israeli military is concerned the agreement being discussed in upcoming talks in Switzerland could include provisions requiring an immediate and full withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon to the international border.
The report added that such a withdrawal would extend beyond previously discussed lines of repositioning, which Israeli officials refer to as the “Yellow Line,” potentially creating operational and political difficulties for the Israeli army.
According to the same sources, the Israeli military is not currently prepared to implement a full withdrawal on such terms, adding to growing uncertainty within Israel’s security establishment as diplomatic negotiations progress.
The developments highlight widening gaps between US and Israeli expectations as the Iran-US agreement moves closer to formalization, particularly regarding the future security arrangement in Lebanon.
