BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. US Central Command, overseeing operations in the Strait of Hormuz, confirmed that two helicopter pilots who crashed into the sea on Monday were safely retrieved.
TurkicWorld reports that “the soldiers were safely rescued within approximately two hours and are in stable condition. The cause of the incident is under investigation,” the statement read. An unnamed US official told ABC News that the airmen were rescued by an unmanned vessel – a maritime drone – which brought them to safety.
Task Force 59 operates a fleet of unmanned craft, and the drone used for the rescue of the US Army AH-64 Apache crew has “a speed boat-like design.”
