Iran United States US Central Command Strait of Hormuz military strikes Greater Tunb Island

US military announces end of latest strikes on Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15, The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it has completed a 90-minute wave of precision strikes against Iran. The operations concluded at 7:30 a.m. Washington, DC time (11:30 GMT, 3:00 p.m. Tehran time).

According to CENTCOM, precision munitions were launched against Iranian coastal defense systems and cruise missile storage and launch sites on Greater Tunb Island. The military said the strikes further “degraded” Iran’s ability to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM emphasized that the operation was intended to target specific military infrastructure and reduce the threat to international maritime traffic in the region, while limiting civilian casualties.

The announcement comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran over regional security and freedom of navigation in strategic waterways.
