BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. A spokesperson for the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) told Al Jazeera Arabic that the US military’s “Project Freedom” operation for the Strait of Hormuz is a “temporary” mission aimed at establishing a “safe corridor” and a “security umbrella” over the waterway.
TurkicWorld reports the spokesperson noted that ship owners and insurance companies have responded positively to the operation, which has only just begun.
According to the spokesperson, the operation is intended to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strait, thereby supporting both global and regional economies.
