Italian prosecutors launch investigation after superyacht sinking

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 25. Italian prosecutors have launched a manslaughter investigation into the deaths of British multimillionaire tech magnate Mike Lynch and six others who died in the sinking of the superyacht Bayesian, TurkicWorld reports.

Although the yacht was damaged by the storm, it is "quite likely" that manslaughter was committed. All survivors were interviewed this week, but Kartosio added the investigation is not yet targeting anyone in particular.

On August 22, the owner of the company that built Bayesian, Giovanni Costantino, said that the tragedy was caused by crew errors, in particular, that the storm was predictable, the yacht should not have been at anchor and there should not have been people on it.

Costantino stressed that given the bad weather warning, it was "inappropriate" to hold a party on a yacht.
