ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 13. PepsiCo plans to invest $160 million in constructing a new potato chip plant in Kazakhstan, TurkicWorld reports via Kazakh Invest.

It was mentioned at the meeting between PepsiCo executives and Kazakhstan's Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov that this investment will improve relations between the two countries and show how appealing Kazakhstan is becoming to foreign businesses. The project will help local farmers and advance the economic growth of the area.

The plant, which will be located in the Almaty region, will create 350 jobs and support the development of the agro-industrial sector, while local raw materials will be used in the production process. In the first stage, the enterprise's capacity will be 14,000-16,000 tons of products, with a further increase up to 21,000 tons. The first phase of construction is expected to be completed by 2026.

PepsiCo representatives expressed gratitude to the government for the support, emphasizing that this project is only the beginning of the company's large-scale investments in the region, and added that the company plans to actively cooperate with local suppliers and expand production to meet demand both in the domestic market and in Central Asian countries.

To note, the plant will be PepsiCo's first major food production project in Kazakhstan, further strengthening the company's presence in the country.
