Baku. TurkicWorld:
The Executive Committee of the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) plan to prepare a joint action plan aimed at developing transport corridors by 2030, TurkicWorld reports via the EEC.
The decision to sign a memorandum of understanding for the preparation of this joint action plan was made during a meeting between EEC Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev and Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Gennady Bessonov.
The meeting also addressed the EEC's involvement in the work of coordination bodies operating under the Agreement on Coordinated Development of International Transport Corridors passing through CIS countries.
This initiative was previously supported by the Council of Heads of Authorized Transport Authorities of the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) member states.
The participants of the meeting noted the progress made in developing transport infrastructure within the EAEU and CIS frameworks and expressed their intention to expand cooperation on coordinating the development of Eurasian transport corridors and international transport corridors passing through the territories of EAEU and CIS countries.
"We are working together on the development of transport corridors and can achieve even greater results by combining the efforts of the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee," emphasized Kozhoshev.
The parties also agreed on the need to prepare a joint action plan based on existing memoranda concluded between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee, as well as taking into account the Action Plan for 2023-2025 for implementing the Memorandum on Deepening Cooperation between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee dated November 27, 2018.
"The significance of the joint activities and their timelines should be determined in accordance with the 'Eurasian Economic Path' Declaration signed by the heads of state of EAEU countries. This Declaration envisions further development of economic processes within the EAEU until 2030 and up to 2045," the EEC minister of energy and infrastructure added.
