Uza. The Chairmen of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Parliaments of Latvia and Estonia Rihards Kols and Marko Mihkelson, who participated in the Uzbekistan Presidential Election as international observers, visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
At a meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodiq Safoyev, observers noted that Uzbekistan has successfully implemented large-scale socio-political and economic reforms programs in recent years and has achieved amazing results.
Issues of bilateral cooperation, including inter-parliamentary relations and prospects for their development, were discussed.
The parties expressed readiness to continue inter-parliamentary cooperation in promoting the implementation of joint projects in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and transport spheres.
It was noted that partners also seek to strengthen relations through friendship groups established in the parliaments of Uzbekistan, Latvia, and Estonia.

During the dialogue, the guests who visited Uzbekistan as international observers noted that they were impressed by the thorough preparation for the elections and the high level of voter awareness. They stressed that they witnessed this during their observations in Tashkent and Tashkent region. This ensured that the elections were held based on the principles of openness and democracy. In particular, the practice of electronic voting, introduced as an experiment at more than ten polling stations, was particularly emphasized. During the voting process, equal conditions and opportunities were created for all categories of citizens.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan relations and prospects for their development, including priority areas of inter-parliamentary cooperation, issues of full use of parliamentary diplomacy opportunities in the development of trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian partnership between the two countries.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
