Turkmenistan to host CIS Council of Heads of Government Meeting

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 26. The meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads of Government will be held in Ashgabat city, the capital of Turkmenistan, on May 24 this year, TurkicWorld reports.

According to an official source, this was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

In this context, he noted that in the implementation of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, great importance is attached to fruitful cooperation with the CIS countries, adding that as an associate member of the Commonwealth, the country regularly participates in CIS events and makes a significant contribution to the development of multilateral partnerships.

"Currently, proper work is being carried out in order to organize preparations for the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government. In this regard, it is also planned to hold an information briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on May 20 and a corresponding working meeting in the capital on May 23," he said.

Furthermore, they concluded that, following the results of this meeting, it is planned to sign a number of documents and hold a press conference.

Meanwhile, the development of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) continues to gain importance in the region.

The country is actively strengthening economic, political, and cultural ties with other CIS members by participating in various initiatives, such as joint projects in the fields of energy, transport, and trade.
