BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that people responsible for war crimes should face courts rather than appear at the United Nations podium, in remarks that appeared to refer to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent UN General Assembly address.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 29th International Business Forum in Istanbul, Erdoğan said those responsible for genocide must be held accountable before justice and history, warning that a failure to establish accountability could allow similar atrocities to happen again. Anadolu Ajansı
Erdoğan also reiterated Turkey’s support for Palestinians, saying that the Palestinian people and those in Gaza are not alone in their pursuit of justice.
The Turkish president said the Middle East is experiencing a broad range of crises and described the region as being in a period of severe instability. His remarks followed his participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, where he focused heavily on Gaza and called for greater international action.
