BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has accused the Israeli government of escalating its actions in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, saying recent developments indicate that Israel is not pursuing peace in Palestine.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Ankara alongside Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, Fidan said Türkiye believes the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has intensified what he described as "acts of terror" in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Referring to recent Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, Fidan said the continued attacks despite the announced Gaza peace framework demonstrate that "Netanyahu does not want peace."
His comments come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to advance a ceasefire and broader negotiations over the situation in Gaza.
Israeli authorities have not immediately responded to Fidan's remarks.
