Erdoğan hopes for favourable decision on F-35 fighter jets

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed hope that a favourable decision on the sale of F-35 fighter jets to Türkiye will emerge from the NATO summit.

Speaking to reporters, Erdoğan said the issue is not new and noted that Ankara has repeatedly discussed the matter with the United States.

“This is not a new issue. We have spoken repeatedly with the US about this matter,” he said.

The Turkish president also stated that Türkiye had previously been promised five F-35 fighter jets and voiced optimism that the summit would produce a positive outcome regarding the aircraft.
