Türkiye is delighted to announce the return of the Turkish Grand Prix to the İstanbul Park circuit, which will rejoin the Formula 1® calendar for at least 5 years as of 2027. This momentous decision revives a cherished chapter in Turkish motorsport history, spotlighting İstanbul as a premier destination where high-adrenaline racing meets unparalleled cultural splendour.
Hosted from 2005 to 2011, and thrillingly revived in 2020 and 2021, Istanbul Park will once again roar to life, drawing the world's elite drivers and millions of fans to Türkiye's vibrant heart.
Launch in İstanbul
The Turkish Grand Prix’s global launch event was held in İstanbul on 24 April 2026. The historic launch event was organised under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, with coordination by Türkiye’s Youth and Sports Ministry, Culture and Tourism Ministry, Türkiye’s official tourism board TGA and TOSFED (Türkiye Motorsports Federation).
Our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan launched the event, during which an F1® race car roamed the streets of İstanbul. Starting from the city’s main cruise port, Galataport, the F1® car drove along İstanbul’s Bosphorus line on the European side between Karaköy and Beşiktaş, ending its journey at the Presidential Office in Dolmabahçe. The car was welcomed by
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Formula 1® CEO Stefano Domenicali, and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, and the return of the Turkish Grand Prix was officially announced by the officials in attendance. The entire journey of the F1® car on the streets of İstanbul was broadcast live to national and international media.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "The return of the Turkish Grand Prix to the Formula 1® calendar is a victory for Türkiye’s passion and belief in sport. The Formula 1® races to be held at Istanbul Park for at least five years will both support İstanbul’s leading position in the world and demonstrate to the world that our country is the safe haven of its region”.
İstanbul Park, with its demanding 5.338 km layout and the infamous Turn 8—a gravity-defying, 14-corner challenge—has earned rave reviews from F1® stars. Sentiments from active pilots underscore grip, fun, awesome performance, and enjoyment, positioning İstanbul as a driver's paradise. At the highly anticipated Turkish Grand Prix, whose dates will be announced later, visitors will also immerse themselves in İstanbul's tourist treasures.
Formula 1® fans will explore Istanbul’s magnificent Topkapı Palace and wander through the Grand Bazaar, the world’s oldest covered market.
