BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. Türkiye's BOTAŞ and Shell signed a 10-year gas agreement, Türkiye's Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar wrote on X, TurkicWorld reports.
“Today we signed a 10-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement between BOTAŞ and Shell starting in 2027. Under the agreement, Shell will supply about 4 bcm of LNG annually, totaling 40 bcm during the contract period,” Bayraktar said.
According to him, in addition to facilitating gas trading on a regional and international scale, the agreement opens up new possibilities for loading, delivering, and unloading at European terminals.
To note, estimates put Türkiye's annual gas demand at 50 bcm.
The pipeline gas suppliers include Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran and are expected to include Turkmenistan as well.
LNG suppliers include companies from the US, European countries, Algeria, and Qatar.
