Armenia's mine terror continues to pose threat to civilians - ombudsperson

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 25. Since the beginning of the Second Karabakh War and to this day, more than 370 people have fallen victim to mines, Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva said in connection with the explosion of ammunition in the village of Zyargar in the Fuzuli district, TurkicWorld reports.

She emphasized that Armenia's mine terror continues to pose a threat to the lives and health of civilians and military personnel.

"On August 24 of this year, as a result of an explosion of ammunition in the village of Zyargar in the Fuzuli district liberated from occupation, a civilian was injured. We note once again that the lack of accurate maps of minefields on the territory of Azerbaijan not only threatens the lives and health of people, but also seriously hinders the safe return of former internally displaced persons to their lands.

The silence of the international community regarding Armenia's mine terror leads to the violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms, and also endangers the lives and health of innocent people,” Aliyeva emphasized.
