Online Event Held to Mark the 30th Anniversary of the Asian Ombudsman Association

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. On 16 April 2026, the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) held an online event to mark its 30th anniversary, TurkicWorld reports.

Ombudspersons and heads and representatives of national human rights institutions (NHRIs) from Türkiye, Pakistan, China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Thailand, and other countries joined this online event. During the event, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan and AOA Vice-President, Sabina Aliyeva, delivered a speech.

She congratulated the participants on the 30th anniversary of the association and highly commended its work, highlighting a number of significant accomplishments achieved over the years.

The Azerbaijani Ombudsman also noted the successful efforts in holding events focused on business and human rights, the rights of persons with disabilities, corporate responsibility and other highly relevant topics within the activities of the association.

S.Aliyeva emphasized that, as an active member of the Association, the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Institution hosts important events, including the AOA Meeting of the Board of Directors.

The Ombudsman recalled that the initiative to establish an international platform in the field of business and human rights within the framework of the AOA was welcomed by the ombuds institutions of other member countries and emphasized that the establishment of a relevant working group would make a significant contribution to the regular exchange of information and coordination of joint activities.

During the event, ombudspersons shared their positive experiences and exchanged views on the development of joint cooperation within the association. AOA members also exchanged views on the organization's future directions of activity.
