Heydar Aliyev Foundation's Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva sends wreath to funeral of Khojaly genocide witness

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva has sent a wreath to the funeral ceremony of Khojaly genocide witness Durdana Aghayeva, TurkicWorld reports.

The wreath was laid at Aghayeva's grave.

To note, Durdana Aghayeva, born in Khojaly in 1972, was captured by the Armenians during the massacre and remained hostage for eight days.

After being released from captivity, she wrote the book “Eight Days in Armenian Dungeons”.

The Khojaly genocide refers to the large-scale slaughter of Azerbaijani citizens carried out by Armenian forces in the town of Khojaly, Azerbaijan, on February 26, 1992. The tragedy emerged as the most extensive solitary massacre in the entire region. A total of 613 civilians, comprising 106 women and 63 children, lost their lives.
