BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. The new school for 360 pupils built-in Saatli district within the framework of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's New School to Renewed Azerbaijan Project has been handed over to students, TurkicWorld reports.
According to information, the general secondary school named after Omar Faig Nemanzade in Guneshli village started its activity in 1994 as an elementary school. The need for the construction of a new school building arose since it had fallen into disrepair during the past period.
The new school building stands tall with three stories and is made up of four separate structures.
The school is fully equipped with the necessary furniture and equipment, subject rooms, and laboratories with visual aids. It has 17 classrooms, physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, a computer science room, a military training room, a medical room, labor training rooms, a library, a canteen, an assembly hall, a gym, and an outdoor sports ground.
Landscaping and improvement works have been carried out in the schoolyard.
School director Movlud Jalilov noted that the school in the village started 30 years ago.
“Since the building of the school, which works under the nine-year education system, has become dilapidated over the years, we applied to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Our request was promptly answered, and a new school building was constructed soon. This year we have 18 pupils going to the first grade. Once the school was in bad condition, so many of our pupils went to educational institutions with better conditions in neighboring villages. After the construction of the new school building, not only these students but even students from other neighboring villages declare their desire to study in our school,” he said.
He noted that school graduates show successful results in entrance exams to higher educational institutions.
“Work is also underway to transition the school to an 11-year education system. I believe that students studying in the new school building will be able to distinguish themselves with better results,” Jalilov said.
He added that graduates of the school, Zeynali Dursunov and Javanshir Aghayev, rose to the ranks of martyrs in the second Karabakh War of Azerbaijan.
Father of martyr Zeynali Dursunov, who was a graduate of this school, resident of Guneshli village Alaz Dursunov said that he and his family members were very impressed by the new look of the school his son graduated from: “My three daughters will continue studying at the school where their shehid brother studied and will get new knowledge. Memorializing the memory of our son, installing a plaque in front of which the students of the school walk to their classes every day is of great importance to our family. Our family expresses gratitude to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva for their attention and care.”
