BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22. A total of 16 candidates have been registered in connection with the extraordinary election to the Azerbaijani parliament, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov said, TurkicWorld reports.
To note, out of 1048 nominated candidates, 700 have been approved so far, and 609 of them have received signature sheets.
On June 28, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree dissolving the sixth convocation of the Azerbaijani Parliament and calling for an extraordinary election.
The snap parliamentary election in Azerbaijan is scheduled for September 1, 2024.
