BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9. A total of 155 candidates have been nominated for the upcoming parliamentary election, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said, TurkicWorld reports.
Panahov noted at today's briefing that initially 156 candidates were nominated, but one later withdrew the candidacy.
"The candidacy of 71 people was approved, and 43 of them were issued signature sheets," he added.
On June 28, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree dissolving the sixth convocation of the Azerbaijani Parliament and scheduling a snap election for September 1.
