BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, has revealed the nationwide number of mine victims, TurkicWorld reports via the official's X publication.
"Mine victims in Azerbaijan continue to grow. Innocent civilians and landmine clearance operatives are the main victims. Armenia implanted millions of landmines in the formerly occupied lands of Azerbaijan," the publication said.
To note, an international conference on combating mines will be held today in Zangilan.
After the second Karabakh war in 2020, landmines have claimed the lives of more than 360 people in Azerbaijan's liberated areas, resulting in 68 fatalities and over 290 injuries.
