BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 1. Supporting Armenia’s militarization policy exacerbates tensions in the South Caucasus, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev told reporters, TurkicWorld reports.
According to Hajiev, a regulation has been agreed upon between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is creating a framework for the delimitation process. This process will continue on a bilateral basis under conditions of mutual understanding. The delimitation of borders is inherently a bilateral issue.
"Given the peaceful and mutually understanding atmosphere between the two states, we believe there is no need for the European Union border mission from Armenia near the Azerbaijani border. The time has come to end this mission," he emphasized.
Regarding recent statements by the Armenian prime minister, Hajiyev noted that Pashinyan’s comments are contradictory and do not reflect reality.
"Armenia is actively pursuing a policy of militarization, which is a fact. This policy is strongly supported by several Western countries, particularly France. Such support contributes to increasing tension in the South Caucasus region," he added.
