Azerbaijan, African Union may sign MoU in future - deputy FM

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. Azerbaijan and the African Union may sign a memorandum of understanding in the future, Araz Azimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, said, TurkicWorld reports.

He made the remark during the international "Strengthening Africa and Promoting Multilateralism in the Age of Global Challenges: the Role of the Non-Aligned Movement" conference held in Baku.

He noted that during Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement, special attention was paid to African countries and their problems.

"Unfortunately, colonization continues to take place in the world or its influence is felt. As for the African Union, I would like to see more cooperation in other countries, their offices and regional offices. Azerbaijan has provided financial assistance to African countries, allocated funds for education and healthcare," Azimov said.

Meanwhile, the international "Strengthening Africa and Promoting Multilateralism in the Age of Global Challenges: the Role of the Non-Aligned Movement" conference is being held in Baku.

The conference is held with the joint organization of the Center for Analysis of International Relations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The conference is dedicated to Africa Day, which is celebrated annually on May 25. The purpose of the conference is to bring together politicians and experts from African countries and Non-Aligned Movement member countries to discuss strategies for strengthening Africa and promoting multilateralism in global geopolitical conditions.

The event is attended by representatives of think tanks and foreign ministries from the Non-Aligned Movement member countries, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the Government of Azerbaijan, as well as local experts.
