BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. A consultation was held in Baku within the mandate of the “Belém Mission 1.5” Troika on the implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
The consultation was held as part of the fourth Climate Week of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), hosted and organised by Azerbaijan at the Baku Convention Centre from September 7 to 11.
A total of 68 events were organised during the Climate Week, with nearly 2,700 participants from more than 140 countries registered to attend.
Representatives of governments, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, the private sector and academia took part in the events.
Eight mandated meetings were held under the UNFCCC Climate Week on various aspects of the international climate agenda arising from decisions of the Conference of the Parties. Events organised by the COP30 and COP31 presidencies and sessions under the UNFCCC Implementation Forum were also held.
In parallel, Azerbaijan organised 37 events as part of Baku Climate Action Week, in line with the COP29 Presidency Action Agenda and other relevant topics.
The “Belém Mission 1.5” Troika consultation brought together representatives of Azerbaijan, Brazil, Türkiye and Australia, which have held the COP29, COP30 and COP31 presidencies, respectively.
UNFCCC Climate Weeks are hosted on a rotating basis among the UN regional groups. In 2026, the first UNFCCC Climate Week was held in April in the Republic of Korea for the Asia-Pacific region, while the second was hosted by Azerbaijan for the Eastern European region.
