On March 17, 2026, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan, Mr. Elbay Gasimzade, visited the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and met with the President of the Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova,TurkicWorld reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the continuation of joint activities within the framework of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, on the celebration of the 900th anniversary of the great architect of the Turkic world, Ajami Nakhchivani.
In this context, it was noted that a significant achievement was the publication on December 15, 2025, of the book “The Genius of Azerbaijani Architectural Heritage: Ajami Nakhchivani – 900” (in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English), prepared by the Foundation and the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan. The presentation of the book took place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, co-organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, and the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan. An exhibition reflecting the rich creative legacy of the outstanding architect was also organized.
The parties agreed to hold a wide public presentation of the book in Azerbaijan in the near future.
During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on prospects for joint cooperation in promoting the rich Turkic cultural heritage, further strengthening ties among brotherly Turkic nations, and the important role of cultural diplomacy in this process.
