BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 8. The Azerbaijani flag was raised at the State Flag Square in Baku today, marking the official reopening of the renovated Flag Museum, the official representative of the Baku Boulevard Department Afsana Mehdiyeva told TurkicWorld
She highlighted that the museum, located at the Square, has also been redesigned and updated.
To note, the State Flag Museum was originally opened by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva on November 9, 2010. Since its opening, the museum has showcased the three-colored flag of Azerbaijan, as well as flags of historical khanates and states that existed on Azerbaijani territory at various times in history, providing visitors with detailed information.
The museum features 400 exhibits that showcase Azerbaijan's ancient and rich history of statehood, with detailed information provided for each item to enrich visitors' understanding. In 2017, the museum was temporarily closed for repairs as part of the reconstruction and restoration of the State Flag Square. During this period, the museum's staff focused on preserving, conserving, and enhancing the collection, which now includes 431 exhibits, reflecting an expanded and even more diverse historical narrative.
The newly renovated museum, which reopens with updated exhibits and a new layout, now includes a special "Victory Gallery" dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War. The gallery features photographs from the military parade marking the third anniversary of the victory, as well as images of the Azerbaijani flag being raised in territories liberated from occupation under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
