BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 26. IndiGo, India's airline, is ready to commence flights on the Delhi-Bishkek-Delhi route, Vice President at IndiGo for Aviation Policy and Industry Rajan Malhotra told, TurkicWorld reports.
He made the statement during discussions with Kyrgyzstan's Ambassador to India, Askar Beshimov. Malhotra noted that IndiGo has been appointed as the official carrier by the Government of India and has received approval to operate this route seven days a week.
During the meeting, the ambassador expressed his willingness to support the initiative and highlighted that Indian nationals holding long-term multiple-entry visas from countries such as the US, the UK, and the Schengen Area benefit from a visa-free regime of up to seven days with the right to re-enter after 21 days.
Malhotra also requested the consideration of easing visa requirements for Indian citizens with six-month or annual UK visas or one-month Schengen visas.
Moreover, the parties discussed opportunities to boost the tourism sector by organizing group tours from India to Kyrgyzstan, promoting relevant advertising campaigns, and strengthening ties between travel companies.
IndiGo is India's largest airline by passenger numbers and fleet size, holding a 61.6 percent share of the domestic market as of May 2024. As of August 2024, the airline operates over 2,000 daily flights to 122 destinations—88 domestic and 34 international. Its main hub is Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
