Financial oversight of COP29 carried out jointly with supreme audit institution

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. Financial oversight of the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is being carried out in collaboration with the supreme audit institution, TurkicWorld reports via Azerbaijan’s COP29 Operational Company press service.

The preparations for COP29 are ongoing. The public is being regularly informed about the progress and planned activities related to the event. The state budget has allocated funds for the conference, which aims to be one of the largest and most prestigious global events. These funds will support the organization of the conference at a high level and the development of the necessary infrastructure.

To ensure financial control over the allocated state funds, the country’s highest audit authority is working with relevant government bodies to evaluate the financial management of the conference. This includes assessing compliance with budget allocations, contract amounts, contract execution conditions, and the completeness of relevant documentation. The goal is to prevent financial irregularities while adhering to auditing principles for preliminary audits.

In addition to ensuring accountability and transparency, the financial control aims to use the allocated funds effectively and return any savings to the budget.

After the event, a report and audit statement will be prepared by both international organizations and the State Audit Chamber to review all expenses incurred.
