Azerbaijan, IFC explore green economy transition priority strategies

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. Azerbaijan and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have discussed strategic priorities for the transition to a "green" economy, the chairperson of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Taleh Kazimov wrote on X, TurkicWorld reports.

The publication notes that a meeting was held with a delegation led by Ines Rocha, IFC's regional director for Europe.

"During the meeting, we discussed strategic priorities for the transition to a green economy in our country, initiatives aimed at developing the necessary infrastructure, and key issues of the Central Bank's sustainable finance agenda. We also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and explored potential areas for cooperation between our institutions," the publication reads.

To note, the IFC has made significant investments in Azerbaijan, totaling over $850 million as of July 1 of this year. These investments have supported a wide range of projects in financial services, infrastructure, and production. Additionally, it has provided valuable consulting services to improve the business environment, develop the financial sector, enhance corporate governance, and support small and medium-sized businesses and agribusiness.
